I interviewed music and culture editor for the Los Angeles Times Magazine, Nic Harcourt five months ago about the state of music radio in Los Angeles. As the former music director for KCRW, Harcourt has been called the “tastemaker” in music for being sited with finding bands like Coldplay, Dito and more.

A few months before I started KPCRadio.com, I sought out his advice for the students of our Broadcast class. He gave us some great words of advice and said the state of music radio in America in general is “crap.” That influenced us a lot to make sure we gave local bands a strong voice.
